Barbican Weekender Photos

On the 5th March she-me joined the Crafternoon tea party at the Barbican weekender - here are the photos we promised:

We were overwhelmed by how many people came to join in. It was lovely to see kids getting creative.

She-me spent the day making collages and t-shirts, cutting and sticking and generally having fun.

We love how inventive kids can be. We ended up making all sorts of costumes. Zoo animals were the most popular.

We got requests for all sorts of creatures: blue cats, lions, purple elephants, monkey's and monsters the list goes on and on.

It was great to have the excuse to play all day.

Barbican weekender

we had so much fun at the barbican weekender.

It was exhausting but so much fun - photos coming soon....

Tomorrow is the Barbican Weekender

Bring your kids down to the Barbican for a fun filled day of creativity.

The Barbican’s annual arts extravaganza returns on the 5th and 6th March for another jam-packed weekend of theatre, dance, music, film, food, visual art and spoken word.

As part of this special weekend the Crafternoon Tea Club are holding a sustainable fashion event ‘FASH MASH!’ - a party hosted by ourselves - collective of creatives, each with specialised skills to help customise and transform unwanted article and garments into DIY individualised fashions!

This is a not-for-profit, family friendly, participatory event; bringing a slice of London craftparties to the Barbican.

Crafternoon is bringing a customising kit and the raw materials to help mash the fash - including glue, sewing kits, spray paint, scissors, broochbacks, card and as many old clothes as we canmuster together to start people off, but we are also encouraging visitors to bring their own materials too.

Hope you can make it!

Grazia!

We are in Grazia as part of the Crafternoon Tea club!

Barbican Weekender

On the 5th-6th March is the Barbican Weekender.

She-me are joining the Crafternoon Tea Club to help transform unwanted articles and garments that could have otherwise ended up in a landfill into individualised fashions.

The Crafternoon Tea Club's pop up parties explore socially engaged art combined with craft based traditions. Bringing people together through creativity, communicating a sustainable alternative to consumer driven lifestyles - and having fun while we do it.

Using collective skills and materials Crafternoon will work with the public to customise and transform unwanted articles and garments that could have otherwise ended up in a landfill into DIY individualised fashions. The new creations can be shared, swapped, customised and even take away at the end of the day - and all for free!

She-me will be there on Saturday 5th March - hope you can make it!

Message in a bottle

It was our friend Laura's hen do this weekend - and we were asked to decorate.

With the party being held on a boat on the River Thames, we decided to make the whole thing a nautical theme. Taking inspiration from flags at our families boat yard on the Isle of Wight we starting looking at the flag alphabet.

We spelt out 'congratulations' in flags and made bunting to hang around the boat.

We also got our friends from across the seas who couldn't make the night to email us handwritten messages which we tea stained at put into tiny bottles around the tables like they had been washed ashore especially for the hen.

CONGRATULATIONS LAURA & JEFF - cant wait for the wedding!
